BRIEF

Chennai, despite its rapid urban growth and population of over 10 million, remains the least green metro in India, with just 9.5% green cover. More than 200 unused traffic islands disrupt the city’s fabric, while bird populations have declined by 40% in three decades. This project proposes transforming traffic islands into ecological stages, where architecture frames nature, birds become the actors, and people the spectators, restoring balance between development and environment while re-embedding nature in the urban core.
