Living Monument
BRIEF

The Living Monument project in Gwalior reinterprets Indian art as a dynamic, evolving continuum rather than static heritage. Conceived as a hybrid school and cultural center, it integrates programs in music, dance, drama, and art with flexible public spaces. The site plan is organized through longitudinal axes and triangular nodes, generating massing for schools, cultural plazas, and water bodies. Voids operate as transitional stages, while rhythmic façade elements reinforce visual connectivity across zones. Sustainability is achieved through preserved tree cover, ponds, and passive climatic strategies. By blending built, semi-open, and unbuilt volumes, the project creates a civic stage where people become performers.
